Renesas RH850: How to configure general CPU settings?

23-Nov-2023

These configuration steps are required to connect BlueBox to the Target and perform the CPU Reset command, which establishes the initial Debug connection.

Solution:

1. Select your Device in a new Workspace

2. Configure SoC settings.

RH850 devices feature the LPD debug interface.  If the default LPD clock setting doesn’t work, it is recommended to lower the LPD clock below 4 MHz under the Hardware  / CPU Options / SoC tab. LPD clock value in kHz can be manually typed in.

3. Password protection.

RH850 devices usually provide a 128-bit or 256-bit Security ID code to prevent unauthorized access to the RH850 on-chip debugging resources. A matching Security ID code must be entered in the Hardware  / CPU Options / SoC to connect to the target device.

A blank RH850 device comes with all bytes 0xFF in the Security ID code area. Use debug interface protection with caution since the device can unintentionally become inaccessible.
