Renesas RH850: How to configure general CPU settings?

13-Oct-2021

These configuration steps are required to connect iSYSTEM BlueBox to the Target and perform CPU Reset command, which establishes initial  Debug connection.

Solution:

1. Select your Device in a new Workspace

2. Configure SoC settings:

RH850 devices feature LPD debug interface.  If the default LPD clock setting doesn’t work, it is recommended to lower the LPD clock below 4MHz under the Hardware menu / CPU Options / SoC tab. LPD clock value in kHz can be manually typed in.

3. Password protection:

RH850 devices usually provide a 128-bit or a 256-bit  Security ID code to prevent unauthorized access to the RH850 on-chip debugging resources. Matching Security ID code must be entered in the Hardware menu / CPU Options / SoC to connect to the target device.

A blank RH850 device comes with all bytes 0xFF in the Security ID code area. Use debug interface protection with caution since the device can unintentionally become inaccessible.
