Infineon Aurix: How to enable or disable debug password protection?

15-Mar-2024

The UCB Flash must be writable to configure the debug password protection.

Using this procedure you may lock the device!

Possible solution

1. Configure winIDEA to use a password via Hardware / CPU Options / SoC.

2. Set a password.

Refer to the winIDEA Help Password protection chapter for a detailed procedure.

Explanation

Debug Password via Hardware / CPU Options / SoC and Debug Password via UCB plugin are not exactly the same, but their values should be the same otherwise the debug connection to the target is locked.

  • CPU options - Set the value that the debugger communicates to the device debug module when it tries to connect to it to unlock debugging
  • UCB plugin - Set the value that the debugger tries to program the device with if the debug connection is established. If it is programmed successfully then debug module is locked with this password and you have to remember and provide the same value in the CPU options to be able to unlock debug connection.
